Joining in the fun with six things in my garden today, with thanks to The Propagator for this witty idea! Most contributors to this theme are showing images of spring — here in my part of Canada it’s still winter. It was -14 Celsius overnight, although much of the snow may well be gone next weekend as the experts are calling for a lot of rain and highs almost double digits in the coming days.

That last snap is pure poetry! I am curious about forcing bulbs. The author of ‘potpourri from a Sussex garden’ has detailed instructions on forcing, but I am still intimidated. Do you know a place I can learn more?

Thanks! Elizabeth Licata, who contributes to the Garden Rant site, is a rabid bulb forcer. Her writing is a good place to start , such as this column: http://gardenrant.com/2012/09/let-the-bulbs-begin.html

The limestone boulder looks like it’s at least near if not in your garden. A great natural feature w/o any gardening woes on your part. Hope the chestnut does better this year for you. What type of woodpeckers do you get there – pileated or something else?

I’m pretty terrible at bird ID but I’m told pileated and at least 2 other species. I just get a kick out of listening to them!

Your boulder looks like a t-rex head. Has that been said before?
