I’ve seen some of our seaside goldenrod so far this year, but not other species listed here as ‘summer’ plants, even though they reach their peak in fall. Goldenrod of all sorts is one of my favorites, especially where I find it combined with ripened, purple beautyberries. I suspect your bees are happy with its early appearance.
Bees and everything else, I think. I once counted a single goldenrod ‘flower’ with more than a dozen pollinators delving about. I don’t expect the bulk of mine to bloom till mid to late August onto September, and I gave several clumps close to the house the “Chelsea Chop’ so they should be a bit later.
Nooooo – it’s too early! Do you really have goldenrod in full bloom already?
