In a Vase, on Monday – Jetfire

Almost a third of the way into spring and I’m finally able to have a (tiny) vase of spring blooms from my garden. These are a semi-dwarf variety of daffodil called Jetfire; they’re always the first to bloom here, sitting in a sunny protected spot in full sun. My ‘Bloom Chart’ tells me that last year they were in full bloom about 10 days earlier, but finally yesterday they just started to open. A few hours on a sunny kitchen windowsill and they were blazing away. Thanks to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden, for hosting this weekly show and tell, all year long, of vases of cut flowers from many places around the world.

  1. Hurrah for your first daffs, Chris! I tend to prefer these shorter varieties and have grown Jetfire in the past – you must be thrilled to finally have some blooms!
