I also thought it was perched on something…do have fun & make a snowball for Kitties. My daughter’s Kitty comes running, when the ice-dispenser is used…loves to play with cubes…so does their dog.
What a cool find (in every sense of the word). I’m puzzled by the second photo. I’ve tried and tried to imagine what it’s perched on, and can’t. Is it something only gardeners would know about? Or something utterly common that I’ve never paid attention to?
A Porcupine’s very favorite Christmas gift?

Wonder what your Kitties will do, when you bring it in??

Oh, this is pine sapling, about a foot tall, planted outside. The plastic thing is to guard against rabbits. I hope.

It’s a plastic tree guard…my attempt at dissuading rabbits from nibbling the sapling to the ground.
