The lake isn’t frozen – yet – but with strong wind and high waves, small chunks gets washed ashore and form these metres high sculptural forms on the beach.
At first glance, I thought they were dunes, or at least compacted sand. The wave-like form is beautiful and interesting; I didn’t realize such things were part of winter on the shore.
Hmmmm…many of the shallower bays and inlets on Lake Ontario freeze, there’s skating and ice fishing and snowmobiling…Lake Erie, the shallowest of the great lakes but larger than Wales, often freezes over completely while the other four sometimes do.
Impressive! The many shapes and power of water and wind and low temps.

Wow, amazing! Does the lake ever freeze enough to walk and skate on?
