‘b’ is for Verbena bonariensis. Dozens of small seedlings have now appeared, joining the very few seeds that germinated at the usual time earlier this year. Verbena ’til frost! ‘c’ is for Daucas carota – Queen Anne’s Lace or wild carrot – waving gracefully in garden beds, meadows and even unmowed sections of the lawn. ‘D’ is for Dahlia ‘Wynn’s Desert Sunrise,’ huge, incredibly photogenic blossoms on trunk-sized stalks as tall as me. ‘E’ is for Echinacea purpurea – blooming in profusion. All have come together in a green glazed ceramic vase I found at my fave local vintage shop a few months ago.
Every Monday Cathy at Rambling In The Garden encourages us to share a vase highlighting what is growing in our gardens. Have a great week everyone!

Again, it’s the peach and purple that appeals most to me, but that Dahlia! A Dahlia on a trunk-sized stalk as tall as a person? It boggles the mind!

LOL – and yet earwigs can climb that high and embed themselves in the petals!

Nice! A new home for the vase! That Dahlia is tremendous & pretty color! Last Friday I took 2 photos of a Monarch on Verbena b. …she was really enjoying…and then laid some more eggs for me to collect & nurture to adulthood.

Wow! Where did she lay the eggs?

Ooh, I like that vase too – a great find, Chris – and I like your alphabetical contents too! The verbena doesn’t do a lot in my garden – I think it possible wants more space to itself

Monarch eggs: she lays on Milkweed! I found 8 eggs this morning, on teeny Milkweed, just coming up in the yarden. A 3rd instar, that shed its skin this am, have a photo, another 8 eggs, 6 hatchlings & another egg. I started in 2018…have released 177 Monarchs, all from eggs, or an occassional caterpillar from our yarden! Saw another Monarch this afternoon.

‘Wynn’s Desert Sunrise’?! Well, now I do not feel so badly about saying what I said about ‘Cafe au Lait’ earlier. Does this have more color? Is it ‘Wynn’s’ or ‘Wyn’s’?

The soft colours all mingle beautifully in your new vase. Pale pinky purples and peach go so well together!

I resisted the bright orange Tithonia that are now starting to bloom 😆😆

I fixated on that dahlia – what a beauty! I just returned from a Pacific Northwest (Puget Sound) garden tour and admired one that may be identical to yours. Meanwhile, my own dahlias are only just getting started. No vase from me this week (a first I think) because I’m still playing catch-up.

It’s an astounding colour…every photo looks like a painting. And much more cafe au lait-ish than Cafe au Lait!
