This reminded me of one of our native Gaillardia species: Winkler’s Gaillardia, which happens to be white. It’s on my list of future posts, along with a natural variation which happens to be pink-ish!
The flower/petals of WInkler’s are so different eh? Petals held apart instead of overlapping… Interesting enough, in the clump of Gaillardia where this photo comes from, on stem has flowers that are much paler than all the others in the garden. Almost white, in fact. Another natural variation!
It’s interesting to gaze at a black/white & grays image when you know what the colored version would look like.
