What wonderful photos! It may be that our native species is in bloom now. I’ve seen shrubs heavy with white blossoms that weren’t immediately recognizable, and this could be it. I had to laugh — every time I read the name Sambucus, I think about Richie Sambora, lead guitarist for Bon Jovi. That may be appropriate, since I just came across this article, which notes that “The Sambucus genus is likely named for the sambuca, an ancient musical instrument from Greece; elderberry stems are still made into clapper sticks, flutes, and whistles.”
Wondrous! Great shot, Chris.

Thanks! I love how the leaves resemble alien fingers probing into the air….
