I love Nasturtiums. Love the colours, love the foliage, love how easy they are to grow, love their taste on salads or just as a snack while toodling around the garden. I think I planted too many this year (if that’s possible), too closely together. But all these blooms make them an easy choice for today’s vase.
Three vases. I purchased these bud vases 25 years ago at a splendid little garden shop in Toronto, long closed, called Cruickshank’s. It was my go-to place for specialty bulbs, garden items, vines and Agapanthus. A big box Canadian book store chain decided to purchase the shop and then, for some reason, closed it.
Anyway, here are my Nasturtiums, picked early yesterday morning, still damp from the overnight rain. These will rest on the windowsill above the kitchen sink – ready to add to this week’s meals.

So bright and cheerful! I grow the trailing kind in my vegetable garden and by August they usually have covered every inch of bare ground which makes quite a show and discourages weeds too!
Yes – weed suppression is a wonderful side affect!

Very nice Chris! I don’t have nasturtiums in my garden, but I think I may be adding them next year. I’d like to pick up a lot of different vases at yard sales because We give away a lot of cut flowers To customers of my wife’s hair salon. But so far I haven’t found any as interesting as what you were showing here.

Nasturtiums are the most cheerful of flowers in my view. They’ve never done well in my garden, although a few come back each year; however, there are masses of them growing along a nearby trail, probably benefiting from the irrigation run-off from my neighbor’s garden. I love your little bulb vases.
Yes, they do get wilty and wrinkly without regular watering. Since we’re starting to worry about the well, their exuberance may be short lived!

Oh NO you DIDN”T! NO one talks about nasturtiums! They are one of my all time favorites! I have been growing them since I was a kid! The common feral yellow and orange are still my favorites. My colleague down south says they are ‘dgo pansies’. I don’t care. I will always grow them.
