I didn’t remember ‘agastache,’ so I looked it up. The Missouri Botanical Garden tells me the genus name comes from Greek words meaning “very much” (agan)and “ear of wheat” (stachys), a reference to the appearance of the flower spikes. I certainly can see that, but there’s an amusing similarity to a different kind of ‘stache’ — a mou-stache!
Yes, a very bristly one eh? I can see the wheat reference, and the ‘very much’ could have a double meaning, since is spreads so readily.
Nice catch!
