Beautiful photograph of the bloom. Looks like althea (Hibiscus syriacus). I have an althea (Rose of Sharon) in the back corner of my yard. It blooms from early summer until fall. It requires no maintenance. It is a very under-appreciated landscape plant.
And it’s probably the last of the flowering shrubs, aside from hydrangeas. I’m not a huge fan of the newer, double varieties, but I do like these single, large, pollen laden ones.
Yes. That is true. The Limelight hydrangeas have been the star this year. They are still blooming.
By chance, might this Rose also go by the name of Sharon?
