  1. Beautiful photograph of the bloom. Looks like althea (Hibiscus syriacus). I have an althea (Rose of Sharon) in the back corner of my yard. It blooms from early summer until fall. It requires no maintenance. It is a very under-appreciated landscape plant.

    1. And it’s probably the last of the flowering shrubs, aside from hydrangeas. I’m not a huge fan of the newer, double varieties, but I do like these single, large, pollen laden ones.
