  1. I planted V. noveboracensis in our yard two years ago. It did fine but this year, maybe because of all the rain, it has shot up to around 8 feet tall and with many strong stems.

    1. There are a few species of Veronia that are native to eastern Canada and the U.S. – some of them are very similar. So yes, it could be called a wild flower here, since it showed up without me planting it 😊

  3. Fun to have all those plants just wander into your garden….never know what’s going to come visit & take root. That’s how Milkweed & Goldenrod got started, here & they love this soil! Those look like little thistle flowers.

  4. We have several vernonia species here; what I didn’t realize is that this one is listed for Texas, too — but only in a couple of counties north of Houston. What’s interesting is that my most dependable Texas native plant book says that 8′ is a usual height. It’s well named!
