Beauties! You have three?! I think they’re kind of magical There are several a few miles from here.
I do have three – purchase at a plant auction in 15 gallon pots in October 2015 for $15 each. They likely would have gone into the compost pile if I didn’t bid on them – they were in horrible shape, with main trunks cut off, a few spindly branches, otherwise very unappealing – something no retail customer would have spent money on. Now they’re quite gorgeous, 12 or 15 feet high and round and, as you see, loaded with flowers this spring.
Love and patience & the right spot and good soil!
This is one of my favorite trees, and one that grows in a wide belt across the middle of our state. I usually see Cercis canadensis var. texensis in the Texas hill country, but it’s closer to my home than that. This one’s at the bottom of the road to a friend’s house out in the country.
The one at the bottom of the road is lovely! Is the twisty trunk part of it?
It’s a pair of trees — the redbud on the left, and an old, old Ashe juniper on the right.
Such a pretty tree, mine is just going over. They are so lovely at the edge of the woods.
Gorgeous! it looks especially nice with the green background. 😃
