In a Vase, on Monday – In Miniature

At my nephew’s wedding a few weeks ago, each place setting had a teeny tiny jar of this most delicious hazelnut spread waiting to be taken home and enjoyed. It was indeed delicious, and the jar, I thought, even with its super-glued-on label, would make a perfect container for a few small blooms. Here it is, with my small snippers for size context, filled with goldenrod, marigolds, Verbena and snapdragons.

  2. What gorgeous colours you have put together! I was surprised to see Nutella as I thought it was a European thing. Love it!

  3. Nutella is a yummy place-setting gift! Have you ever had ‘Biscoff?’ It’s made with sweet, Belgian cookies…delectable. There are even Biscoff ice-cream pops which are super delectable..3 in a box. My daughter named her Kitty ‘Biscoff’ a few years ago. Your small bouquet is quite pretty!

    2. The cookies are in most stores here in Texas. I’d not heard of the ice-cream pops and such until I went to their site. They are fine cookies; they may land in my grocery cart this week!

  5. Nutella for wedding favours? Whatever next?! 😁 Softening the glue in the microwave (add water to the jar first) sometimes helps, but leaving it soaking overnight in a container of water is pretty reliable.

    Your teeny vase is really sweet – the tagetes looks particulary fetching…often with really short stems it can be hard to use them in a vase otherwise.

      1. Hmm, plasticky labels are a different thing altogether – they seem to defy removal! In this day and age, one might have thought they would be outlawed, for that reason…

  7. Cute! I think of Nutella as a British thing – I’ve never seen it in California but those small jars can be useful. I save a lot of small jars for floral giveaways but, unless my husband steps in and uses paint thinner to remove the labels, my giveaways usually come with the labels still attached.

  8. How nice. So many flowers are too dinky for cutting and bringing in, but it is sometimes done anyway, like those small jars of nasturtium flowers that are sometimes on tables at restaurants as a possible addition to salads.

      1. Yes, but they are too pretty to eat. I know that someone would just replenish them as necessary, but I would not take them anyway.

  9. Sweet little mini-arrangement! Nutella makes a fun takeaway gift. Wish they didn’t put so much sugar in it, though! Honey would be much better. 🙂

  10. Nutella’s wonderful — and Bischoff cookies. I’m thinking about that label. The microwave might work. I’ve used my heat gun to remove similar labels, so it could be that a hair dryer on the high setting would work.

    All that aside, I love those marigolds! The entire arrangement fits together so well, but those particular flowers made me smile.

  12. Lovely bouquet. I have some sprigs of verbena still blooming. It is very dependable and beautiful. Marigolds are always a garden favorite at my house.
