I listen to a podcast that’s quite popular in Britain; it features two gents humorously discussing their lives and answering listeners’ questions about etiquette. Quite a pleasant way for me to pass the time while on the highway or treadmill. These two guys refer to their listeners as ‘G and Divas‘ – referring to the drink they often imbibe in while taping the podcast – a mixture of gin and Dubonnet. Since my vase today features just two species – Verbena bonariensis floating above a collection of Dahlia -orangey ‘Creamsicle,’ white ‘Arctica,’ plus a third, name forgotten, these then are my own V and Divas.
Many thanks to Cathy at Rambling in the Garden for hosting this meme – although she certainly doesn’t encourage gardeners to tipple while wandering about their posies, I frequently carry my mug of coffee with me as I make me way outdoors early in the morning. Have a great day everyone!

Purple and orange is one of the best combos ever. Is that ‘Dreamsicle’ on the right side of the vase, above the cup? The front-and-center orange flowers seem a little bold to be given that name. Of course, I remember the ice-cream dreamsicles of childhood, which were a lovely pastel orange.
It’s the bright orange ones that are called Creamsicle – possibly because the centre’s are a bit more creamy? I love this colour combo too!
The turquoise of your vase and abundance of flowers go so well togetherโฆpretty!
The vase was kinda echoing yesterday’s bright blue sky, although my photos don’t seem to show it !๐
What a fabulous look. I really love the verbena floating above the dahlias.
Thanks Donna!
Your dahlias are beautiful, Chris. The third one has a nice cactus form. The podcast sounds fun.
Thanks! I enjoy the podcast, although it takes me a bit (if at all) to understand some of the British references!
I have not heard of that podcast, Chris, but then again there are so many podcasts out there and it is easy to go down a rabbit hole once you start … ๐ You have some lovely dahlias there, and a great crop of verbena – as Shoreacres said, orange and purple make a great combination. My after breakfast ramble is invariably accompanied by a mug of coffee, which is invariably cold before I have finished because I have been distracted and out longer than anticipated ๐
It’s the podcast with William Hanson and Jordan North…the Tuesday edition is longish, but their Friday show is short and sweet and usually quite amusing.
If I remember I will ttry and dip into one, even if only to see what you are talking about!! ๐
It’s a lovely combination…the structure and the colors work so well together. I like the idea of enjoying the mug of beverage while out enjoying the garden. Happy IAVOM!

Thanks Beth!
Gorgeous contrasting colours that just pop. Love that glowing orange dahlia!
Thanks Eliza!
Dahlias are indeed divas – they just can’t help it!

Gorgeous combination of orange and purple Chris. And I like the title you chose!

Ooooh, Arctica! Of course, they are all pretty.

Fantastic verbena! is it named? They are never full like that here. Nice setting for the vase, it that coleus in the background? I’m still thinking about gin and Dubonnet…
It’s V. bonariensis…a lovely self-seeding annual here, and seen in many Monday vases on Cathy’s site!
Yes, that’s coleus…started as a very small plant but seems to like this spot as it’s now so huge! Sadly, it’s destined for the compost pile in a few weeks…
It’s amazingly fuller than what I see here. That’s a great coleus.
You’ll miss the hurricane, I hope?
Yes I can tell it’s going by now. On the east coast we’re having 25 mph winds all day and probably some outer band rain
Hoping the remnants don’t make it here this time…have a half marathon race on Sunday!
Last I saw it was turning prior to Canada! This is a huge storm. Good luck ๐
