That’s lovely Chris. I’ve heard of Fothergilla, but not sure I have ever met one in person. I must look it up!
It’s a fabulous shrub!
The blue has to be lupines. One look and I thought, “Bluebonnets!” ‘Fothergilla’ seems like a made-up word: something straight out of Ogden Nash or Lewis Carroll. Discovering that its family is the Hamamelidaceae didn’t do much to minimize the sense of absurdity! I was surprised to find the shrub’s native in our southeastern states. I’d never heard of it, but it certainly is lovely!
