If someone asked me, “Are there blue geraniums?” I would have said “No.” That deeply saturated color is amazing. It reminds me of the blue version of scarlet pimpernel (Lysimachia arvensis). The leaves surrounding the pink flowers certainly are recognizable. They look almost exactly like those attending our tiny native geranium that often appears as a ground cover.
I think the pink one wants to be a ground cover here, too… But the blue one…it’s called Geranium x magnificent, with the common name purple cranesbill. One of the most photogenic flowers in my garden I think. Not as true blue as the scarlet pimpernel! (Which is amazing!)
