The Buddleia’s purple is gorgeous all on its own, but in the first photo, what appears to be red centers makes for a striking contrast. What are those interesting seed heads front and center in the second photo? My first thought was ‘poppy,’ but that doesn’t seem quite right. They have a bit of a space alien look to them.
Ha! They do, don’t they? They’re Nigella seedheads – called in England Love in a Mist, although I’m not quite sure why since when in flower they also look very alien, nothing misty about them, to my eye!
A friend grows the flowers, but I’ve only seen them in bud or bloom — never have seen the seedheads in her garden. Live and learn!

Hmmm… my reply disappeared. I just mentioned that I’ve seen Love in a Mist flowering in a friend’s garden, but never had seen the seed heads. I’ve always been fond of the unusual flowers.
Are they ‘fluttering by’ instead of landing & enjoying? Hopefully, soon! Had a Tiger swallow tail here, for the last 3 days….she is loving the Verbena & Zinnias.
Lovely!
😊

Beautiful! Have you had many butterfly visitors?
