  1. I guess this is another bit of proof that if you grow it, ‘they’ will come — to lurk, to nibble, to wreak general havoc. I will confess to a certain fondness for grasshoppers, and this one brought a smile. The flower, of course, is beautiful. It looks like you’ve included a pre-grasshopper photo. In the middle image, the flower seems less nibbled!

    1. Ha! There are four or five blooms right now, all with bite marks, and the grasshopper was in one of them. I didn’t grow the plant very well, letting branches droops down to the ground before turning up again – they may have rooted where they touched…making it a very shrubby Dahlia! I didn’t realize until this morning when I went to cut one that the stems are longer than I thought!
